More Than 20 Coal Plants Rejected Across The U.S.
Coal-fired power plants are the largest, cheapest and dirtiest sources of energy. These plants produce about half of the nation’s electricity, but cause irreparable harm to our environment and public health along the way.
Despite the serious consequences, at least 94 coal-fired electric power plants are now planned across 36 states, and as many as 150 new coal-fired plants could be built by 2030. The good news is, 22 of these plants have been rejected to date and the number is climbing. As more and more people are learning the facts behind coal, the opposition is growing and Americans are speaking out.
